Pingree Grove Municipal Center ‘Largest Capital Improvement Project’ in Village History

Village of Pingree Grove New Municipal Center Opening Spring 2019

A groundbreaking ceremony for the new Pingree Grove Municipal Center is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Monday, July 23, at the municipal center’s new location, 555 Reinking Road.

Construction is scheduled to begin that week with completion projected in the Spring of 2019, according to an announcement by Pingree Grove Village President Steve Wiedmeyer and the Pingree Grove Board of Trustees.

The village partnered with Lamp, Inc., Kluber Architects + Engineers, and Mackie Consultants for the design of the 27,000-square-foot structure. The budget for the project is $4,225,000.

The construction is being financed by donations from DR Horton Cambridge Lakes and the sale of bonds. The building will be located on village-owned property along Reinking Road, north of Pingree Grove’s police station and Water and Wastewater Treatment Department.

Designed with the goal of housing all village services in one location, the new Municipal Center brings together the Public Works Department, Building Department, and administrative offices.

The building will include a Village Board meeting room, storage space and a large garage to house all public works vehicles and equipment, presently stored in a rented warehouse in Elgin.

“This will be the largest capital improvement project ever undertaken by the village,” Wiedmeyer said.

Village Clerk Dawn Grivetti said residents and staff will benefit from the upgrade.

“We are excited to upgrade to a modern facility that will make our work environment more collaborative and efficient,” she said.

Finance Director Karen Plaza said the Municipal Center is a smart investment in the village’s future.

“We anticipate Pingree Grove will be one of the fastest growing communities in Illinois when the 2020 census is completed,” she said. “This new facility will allow village staff to work together to maximize our resources.” .

Pingree Grove has grown from a quaint village of 124 residents (2000 census) to a thriving community of more than 8,000 in 2018. Pingree Grove continues to be “A Place to Grow’.
