Lamp Incorporated served as Construction Manager for the new Park District of Highland Park Maintenance Facility, a 24,000-square-foot operations center designed to support the district’s year-round maintenance, fleet management, equipment storage, and administrative functions. The facility replaced aging infrastructure and consolidated operations into a modern, efficient headquarters that enhances service delivery throughout the Highland Park community.

The project included the construction of vehicle and equipment maintenance bays, indoor storage areas, fleet service spaces, administrative offices, support facilities, site utilities, fueling infrastructure, parking lots, and extensive site improvements. The development was carefully planned to maximize operational efficiency, streamline maintenance activities, and provide long-term durability for the Park District’s maintenance operations.

Before construction, the project team navigated complex site conditions associated with the property’s historic use as a municipal waste incinerator. Environmental investigations, geotechnical evaluations, and site remediation planning were incorporated into the preconstruction process to ensure safe redevelopment and long-term site performance. The project also included specialized foundation systems, including rammed aggregate piers, to support the new facility and accommodate challenging subsurface conditions.

The facility features precast concrete construction, structural steel framing, modern building systems, overhead service doors, dedicated maintenance workspaces, and energy-efficient mechanical and electrical systems designed to support the Park District’s operational needs for decades to come. Site work included new paving, drainage improvements, fuel distribution facilities, fencing, lighting, landscaping, and secure vehicle storage areas.

Through comprehensive preconstruction planning, coordination of multiple bid packages, schedule management, and quality control oversight, Lamp successfully delivered a highly functional municipal operations facility that supports the maintenance of parks, recreational amenities, golf course operations, and public spaces throughout Highland Park. The completed facility provides a safe, efficient, and sustainable work environment while improving the Park District’s ability to serve residents and maintain community assets. (15707)
