Sunburst Bay Aquatic Center is a premier aquatic recreation destination developed for the Cary Park District in Cary, Illinois. Completed in 2022, this state-of-the-art community aquatic facility transformed a 40-year-old pool into a modern waterpark and competitive swimming venue designed to serve residents, families, athletes, and visitors for generations.

Constructed by Lamp Incorporated in collaboration with Williams Architects & Aquatics and WT Group, the project features an eight-lane, 25-yard competition pool with diving boards, a climbing wall, a drop slide, and an ADA-accessible entry. The aquatic complex also includes a zero-depth leisure pool, current channel, water walk, plunge slides, custom body flume slides, cabanas, expansive sun decks, lawn seating, concessions, and the Oasis Party Room for private events and community gatherings.

Sustainability and user experience were key priorities throughout the project. Notable features include a self-sustaining bioswale stormwater filtration system that naturally returns filtered water to the groundwater table, custom field-measured concession counters, specialty roofing systems, family-friendly locker rooms, and thoughtfully designed shade structures and gathering spaces.

Today, Sunburst Bay Aquatic Center serves as a regional destination for aquatic recreation, competitive swimming, community events, and family entertainment, providing Cary residents with a vibrant, accessible, and engaging outdoor experience.
