Arlington Heights Park District – Recreation Park Phases 1, 2, and 3

Lamp Incorporated served as Construction Manager for the comprehensive, multi‑phase redevelopment of Recreation Park, a signature community destination for the Arlington Heights Park District. Delivered through a carefully sequenced, multi‑year construction program, the project transformed the centrally located park into a modern, accessible, and highly functional recreation campus while maintaining public safety, continued park access, and operational continuity.

Phase 1 established the foundation for long‑term improvements through extensive site preparation, grading, underground utilities, concrete and asphalt paving, pedestrian circulation, and landscape enhancements. New recreational amenities included an inclusive playground, sport courts, fitness features, fencing, site furnishings, and native plantings designed to serve users of all ages and abilities.

Phase 2 expanded the park’s athletic and site infrastructure with major upgrades to baseball and softball facilities, including new and renovated fields, dugouts, backstops, fencing and netting systems, batting cages, spectator areas, accessibility improvements, interpretive signage, and circulation enhancements. Sustainable landscape features such as rain gardens, turf restoration, and erosion control measures were incorporated to support stormwater management and long‑term site performance.

Phase 3 completed the park’s transformation with significant building and aquatic facility improvements. The scope included selective demolition and renovation of the existing Community Building with new interior layouts, finishes, upgraded building systems, and full life‑safety and ADA compliance. A new pool and bathhouse complex was constructed featuring lap and leisure pools, zero‑depth entry areas, water play features, diving elements, locker rooms, concessions, and supporting back‑of‑house spaces. Extensive site work supported the aquatic facilities, including underground pool systems, utilities, paving, fencing, lighting, landscaping, and stormwater infrastructure.

Throughout all phases, Lamp coordinated multiple trade partners and owner‑furnished installations, managed work within an active public park environment, and ensured compliance with OSLAD grant requirements, accessibility standards, and municipal regulations. Working closely with the Arlington Heights Park District and the project’s design and engineering partners, Lamp delivered a cohesive, high‑quality park redevelopment that supports year‑round recreation, community programming, and special events.
