Cambridge Lakes Charter School Gymnasium Addition
Cambridge Lakes Charter School – Gymnasium Addition
This project comprised a 10,000-square-foot gymnasium addition at Cambridge Lakes Charter School, delivered through a coordinated, two‑phase bid process to maintain the schedule, control costs, and maintain operational continuity for an active school campus.
The project expanded the school’s athletic and student support facilities with a new, single‑story gymnasium featuring a full-size activity space, dedicated storage rooms, restrooms, and a connecting link to the existing building. Exterior work included new sidewalks and site utility improvements to seamlessly integrate the addition into the campus.
Construction was carefully planned to keep the school fully operational throughout the project. Work was executed under strict safety, security, and access protocols, including controlled site logistics, background checks, and zero interaction between construction personnel and students or staff. Coordination across all trades emphasized student safety while maintaining an efficient construction schedule.
The structure features long-span steel framing, precast concrete wall panels, and a durable roofing system designed for longevity and low maintenance. Interior construction included masonry and metal stud framing, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, fire protection systems, athletic flooring, gym equipment, and comprehensive finishes supporting both daily school use and large gatherings.
Lamp Incorporated oversaw scheduling, trade coordination, site safety, quality control, and compliance with prevailing wage requirements. Sustainable construction practices were incorporated through offsite waste sorting and indoor air quality management measures to protect occupants during and after construction.
The completed gymnasium provides Cambridge Lakes Charter School with a modern, flexible athletic space that supports physical education, school events, and community use—enhancing both the functionality and long-term value of the campus.
