Summer Renovations 2020

Community Unit School District 300 – 2020 Summer Renovations

The 2020 Summer Renovations Program comprised a multi‑site improvement initiative delivered through three coordinated bid releases. The program modernized multiple elementary and middle school facilities throughout the district, focusing on interior renovations, infrastructure upgrades, and building system improvements completed within tight summer schedules.

Bid Release 1 – Hampshire, Lakewood, and Sleepy Hollow Elementary Schools – focused on interior renovations and finishes at Hampshire Elementary, Lakewood Elementary, and Sleepy Hollow Elementary Schools. Work included selective demolition to support new construction, followed by extensive interior upgrades. Scope of work included new resilient flooring systems (sheet, tile, static‑control, athletic, and resinous flooring), tile carpeting, acoustical panel ceiling replacements, interior painting, and installation of resilient base and accessories. Additional improvements included wire mesh security partitions and new horizontal louver blinds. Lamp coordinated demolition and installation activities to maintain building safety, manage moisture and substrate conditions, and ensure proper sequencing across multiple flooring and finish systems while meeting all performance, durability, and code requirements.

Bid Release 2 – Lake in the Hills Elementary and Perry Elementary Schools – delivered a broader range of interior and infrastructure upgrades at Lake in the Hills Elementary School and Perry Elementary School. The work included structural concrete repairs, new unit masonry, metal fabrications, and rough carpentry, supporting both architectural and functional enhancements. Interior improvements featured new acoustical ceilings, resilient and athletic flooring, tile carpeting, resinous flooring, interior painting, wall and door protection, toilet accessories, and casework and solid‑surface countertops. Communications infrastructure upgrades were also incorporated to support modern learning environments. Lamp managed coordination among multiple trades, material lead times, and testing requirements while maintaining quality control and compliance with district standards and Illinois prevailing wage requirements.

Bid Release 3 – Dundee Highlands Elementary, Hampshire Middle School, and Neubert Elementary School – addressed interior renovations and targeted architectural upgrades at Dundee Highlands Elementary, Hampshire Middle School, and Neubert Elementary School. The scope of work included selective demolition, cast‑in‑place concrete, unit masonry, metal fabrications, and carpentry, supporting updated layouts and improved durability. Interior improvements included acoustical ceilingsresilient and resinous flooring systemsinterior paintingtoilet room renovations, and the installation of telescoping bleachers at select locations. Joint sealants, fire‑resistive systems, and life‑safety components were integrated to meet code and performance requirements. Across all three bid releases, the project included pre‑renovation asbestos abatement performed in full compliance with IDPH, OSHA, EPA, and AHERA requirements, incorporating continuous air monitoring, negative air containment, and third‑party clearance testing to ensure safe conditions prior to the start of construction activities.
