May Whitney Elementary School Replacement and Site Restoration
This multi‑phase project began with construction of a new 119,000‑square‑foot May Whitney Elementary School for Lake Zurich Community Unit School District 95, designed to support flexible, student‑centered learning. The new school features a geothermal system, learning amphitheater, flexible collaboration spaces, learning studios, breakout rooms, corridor nooks for independent study, a cafetorium suitable for performances and assemblies, and a gymnasium that doubles as an ICC 500‑rated storm shelter. Following completion of the new facility in August 2021, the existing 128,600‑square‑foot school was demolished after asbestos abatement, and the former site was restored with expanded parking and a new synthetic turf softball field, completing the campus transformation in June 2023.
